Grief and Loss Counselling in Totnes (South Devon).

I provide experienced grief and loss counselling here in Totnes and across South Devon. I have a lot of experience with grief-based therapy, and I work alongside a volunteer charity in a bereavement service. The grief I support is: loss of a loved one, loss of a pet, loss of a child or young person, loss of a relationship and also the loss of oneself, idea or thought.

"It's an honour to be in grief. It's an honour to feel that much, to have loved that much" -Elizabeth Gilbert
Grief begins as a heavy, unrelenting tide, pulling us under with every memory and moment of absence. In the early days, it feels endless — a constant ache that colors every thought. But as time moves forward, the sharp edges soften. The pain doesn’t vanish; it changes shape, becoming a quieter companion rather than a crushing weight. What once felt like an open wound becomes a scar — still tender when touched, but no longer bleeding. Grief doesn’t truly expire, but it transforms, allowing space for light to return without erasing the love that remains.

How does your grief support session work?

When you get in touch, we will approach which type of setting you'd like the counselling to be under. Phone call, online, indoor, or walk-and-talk. Once this has been established, you'll also receive the counselling agreement form, which will include all the information on the safety and procedures for counselling and our sessions.

In the first session, we will start lightly by having you open up about what you're bringing to the session. This will be held in a safe manner and will go at your pace, so nothing feels pressured or rushed. As time progresses into further sessions, we can build a stronger relationship and introduce different therapy styles depending on the situation and what works for you.
